about

Much as I'd like it on About Time, this song is smell of the next album. I have half of it in the bag already. I won't tempt Murphy's Law by saying more, except that the next gather-up of songs is a different kind of stuff. I'm still learning .. how to take the noise I hear in my head & get it coming out of the speakers. Musicians are the most difficult aspect; finding them ... there's no end to good players who all want to play so & so's greatest hits, karaoke bands like. Patience has it's limits so I try to do it myself, or it won't get done. That can have interesting results; 4 or 5 harmonicas can do a good accordian is one thing I know, but more things reveal as the process continues ... & bla bla bla ...

By the time the next album arrives this song might have some more in it. I imagine a muted tuba, an idea unheard of in 'traditoinal' music circles, maybe I can use a kazoo ?? Get the idea ?? So anyway ... here it is raw, played like the moment I try to evoke .. 'sitting in the kitchen & it's snowing outside' ... maybe it's best leave it so.

Stac Coll The Netherlands

A radio presenter in Dublin said 'but life has no sound track' & I thought 'wait a mo, that's what I do'. It took that long for me to find a 'product description'. My working life has been about getting the means to record it the way I hear it, my own studio. The work was weird, from mixing U2 to wiring nuclear power plant. I can do it now & this is the record; peoples' lives & how life is. ... more
